Wiśnicz Castle
Local name: Zamek w Wiśniczu
Speaking of castles located in Malopolska, it is impossible not to mention the castle in Stary Wisłnicz. It was built in the second half of the 14th century in early Baroque style with Renaissance elements. For centuries it was inhabited by members of the noble noble and noble families. After the war the castle was restored and made available to tourists visiting Stary Wiśnicz.
The Old Wisłnicz Castle rises above the trees on a hill above the Leksandrówka River. It was built by Jan Kmita, the starost who was acting at that time. In the course of its existence, however, it often changed owners, among them also members of Lubomirski, Potocki or Zamoyski families.
The most attractive parts of the castle are the acoustic room, the big ballroom, the gold-plated ceilings, the castle chapel and the crypt, which houses six sarcophagi, the resting place of the Lubomirskis. Visitors are also attracted by photographs depicting the castle years ago, as well as furniture from the 19th and 20th centuries.
