Located near the Sopot coast, the State Art Gallery is a collection of contemporary and traditional art. It has been operating since the 1950s and presents the work of many well-known and respected artists.
Among the works exhibited at the National Gallery of Art, various works can be found: from traditional, slightly more eccentric to completely experimental and discovering an innovative view of art. Among painters whose works are decorated with the walls of the State Gallery of Art, names such as Günter Grass, Boguslaw Izdebski, Jerzy Zabłocki, Józef Czerniawski and Michał Andrysiak can be mentioned.
During the year the gallery hosts tens of thousands of visitors and organizes more than 200 exhibitions. The State Gallery of Art acts not only as an exhibition institution but also as a host for other artists, such as writers. Great artists hosted in the Sopot Gallery include: Czesław Miłosz, Sławomir Mrozek, Jerzy Nowosielski and Brunon Schulz. It also conducts theatrical events, organizes concerts, reviews and film seminars.
