"Ignacy" Historic Mine

Local name: Zabytkowa Kopalnia Ignacy

The mine was opened to the public in 1999. In 2004 it was recognized as the best tourist product in the Śląskie Voivodeship. The building has been on the Route of the Technical Monuments Trail since 2006. In the administrative building you can visit exhibits related to the history and culture of mining.

Two shaft hoisting machines with steam propulsion deserve the attention of visitors: "Kościuszko" and "Głowacki". The machines come from the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, you can visit: steel hoist towers, lamp room, transformer station, bathhouse, masking room and compressor room. Currently, the mine has a 46-meter water tower, used as a viewpoint.

In the 18th century the mine was founded by the Germans and was called "Hoym". The mine changed its name many times. Current: "Ignacy" is in honor of the then President of the Republic of Poland, Ignacy Mościcki.
