Port of Ruciane-Nida

Port is located at the southwestern bank of Guzianka Wielka, a Masurian post-glacial lake connected to the lake Bełdany and Nidzkie. It offers cruises on the Land of Great Masurian Lakes. During summer season one can reach Mikołajki, Giżycko and Kamień by waterway from here.

A town Ruciane-Nida is located in Puszcza Piska, which was once called “A Great Wilderness”. In sixteenth century, two fisherman villages existed there – Nida and Rudczanny.

In nineteenth century a water mill was built here, from where they transported wood in different directions – to the ports of East Prussia. Russia and Poland. A hamlet started to grow, and the port became an important spot, where new employees were arriving.

An important event in the development of the port was establishing a passenger shipping, which enabled to visit the Land of Great Masurian Lakes. Nowadays, a port complex in Ruciane-Nida together with a harbor of Masurian water transport is visited by sailors from Poland and abroad.
