The Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński's museum is located in the old Pranie Forester's Lodge. The poet arrived there for the first time in 1950. Together with his wife Natalia, he wanted to live in the area of Nidzkie Lake. Unfortunately, the plans were thwarted by Gałczyński's sudden death in December 1953. It was there that such poet's works were created: "W leśniczówce" ("In the Forester's Lodge"), "Ojczyzna" ("Homeland"), "Księżyc" ("Moon"), "Niobe", "Spotkanie z matką" ("Meeting with mother"), "Kronika Olsztyńska" ("The Olsztyn Chronicle").
Cultural events taking place in Pranie are very popular, also among Polish artists. In July and August numerous meetings with authors, recitations of poetry, exhibitions, concerts of Polish songs and classical music take place there. In 2003, the forester's lodge won the plebiscite of readers of Gazeta Wyborcza for the favorite place of cultural events in Warmia and Masuria. In 1980, a museum dedicated to Gałczyński was established there, which is a branch of the District Museum in Suwałki. Museum organizes didactic activities for children, adults, and senior. They can be held in the form of an outdoor board game, educational-outdoor trip to the Pisz Forest or the analysis of Gałczyński's works. In addition, visitors can also try acting skills or get to know the musical fascinations of the poet.Less
