The temple was built at the turn of the 19th century on the command of Princess Izabela Czartoryska and designed by Christian Piotr Aigner who drew inspiration from the Temple of Vesta in the Italian city of Tivoli. Izabela Czartoryska named it the Temple of Memory and made it the first Polish museum. It consists of national souvenirs collected from houses of the most important noble families of then Poland. They became a basis for the latter collection of the Czartoryski Family presented in Kraków.The Temple of Sibyl is situated on the steep Vistula's scarp. It has two halls - the lower in the scarp, supported by arcades, and the higher above topped by the porch and dome with a skylight. The circular building is surrounded by the colonnade composed of Corinthian columns. The dome's vault is decorated with coffers. Its circular skylight brightens the interior of the upper temple.Less
