Gothic House

Local name: Dom Gotycki

Located inside: Czartoryski Palace Museum

The Gothic House was a garden pavilion built in the early 19th century located in the park at the Czartoryski Palace in Puławy. It is a small, neo-Gothic brick building with pointed arches. The interiors have retained the character of English Neo-Gothic.

The Gothic House was built in 1801-1809 according to the design of Christian Piotr Aigner. The building was intended for growing art collections. Among others, the famous Lady with the Ermine Leonardo da Vinci was kept here. Fragments of stonework decorations from various Polish monuments were embedded in the walls of the pavilion. After the November Uprising, they were destroyed by the Russians.

Today, after renovation, the Gothic House has restored interiors from the beginning of the 19th century. we will see here decorations characteristic for this period, supporting the polygonal vault, slender pillars or beautiful, inlaid floors. On the walls hang portraits of members of the Czartoryski family and images of the Palace and park from various periods of its existence.
