Tatar Mound

Local name: Kopiec Tatarski

Situated on a hill in Przemysl, the Tatar Mound formerly served as a place of worship for the Slavic gods. Today it is a great observation point. There is a view of the Sandomierz Valley, the Sansko-Dniester Plateau and the Sanocko-Turczskie Mountains and the Przemyskie Foothills. In addition, there are cycling and hiking trails, an amphitheater, a picnic grill, a ski slope and a snowboard.

The object is associated with several stories. Most people claim that the mound was created as a memorial after the battle with the Tartars. Probably was cast by the losers as a grave for the fallen Khan. Others call this place Kopiec Przemysław, thinking that this is the grave of the mythical founder of the city. There is another legend, according to which the object was to become the grave of Attyla - the leader of the Huns.

The mound has the shape of an oblong triangle with an oval base. Formerly a place of worship of Slavic gods, especially Swarożyca. The first temple was erected here and later the chapel was built there. Leonard, who was destroyed during World War II.
