Regional Museum

Local name: Muzeum Regionalne

The Regional Museum in New Town on the Pilica offers visitors collections in the fields of history, ethnography, art, archeology, geology and numismatics. Archaeological exhibits are considered particularly valuable, e.g. tools from the Neolithic and Bronze Age, and old prints, including 17th-century Sejm Sermons by priest Piotr Skarga and a fragment of the Bible by Martin Luther. Noteworthy is also the history of the first Natural Medicine Plant in the Kingdom of Poland.

The establishment of the Museum in 1960 accompanied the celebration of the 560th anniversary of granting city rights. The originator and founder was regionalist Stanisław Tkacz, who donated many valuable exhibits. Over the years, the facility has changed its headquarters and owners many times. It survived and develops thanks to local enthusiasts.

Lovers of the region associated in the Friends of the New Town Society are making efforts so that the museum's collections are still expanding with new exhibits.
