Church of St. Our Lady of Sorrows
Local name: Kościół Pw. Matki Bożej Bolesnej
The historic temple attracts attention with its baroque, wooden structure, and in particular with its impressive facade. The most valuable element of the temple are its well-preserved polychromes made with the use of illusionist paintings. They refer to baroque forms and ornaments. They were painted on wood or canvas in such a way as to imitate the impression of spaciousness. The author of the paintings was a local monk, Jan Niezabitowski.
The building was erected in 1776 on the site of the previous temple. From the beginning of its existence, the church was under the care of the Marian Order. A miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows is placed in the side altar.
The church was used as an outdoor film several times and was used, among others, during the screening of "Revenge" and "God's Lining".
