Czersk Castle

Local name: Zamek w Czersku

The Castle of the Masovian Dukes in Czersk, one of the oldest Masovian cities, was built on the high scarp at the turn of the 15th century in the place of defensive gord. Despite that time left quite a mark on the walls, the Gothic ruins are still visible from many kilometers. The beautiful panorama of the Vistula's urstromtal can be admired from the castle.

What remained to this day are north and east walls, gate tower, square tower, and two circular towers - west and south (prison tower). The central part of the grassy courtyard consists of the foundations of small castle church of Saint Peter which served as a chapel and collegiate church. The Castellan's Chamber, which was renovated together with the original equipment, is also available for visitors. The castle can be accessed by arcaded brick bridge placed over the dry moat.

The castle in Czersk has a rich and varied educational offer for schools. It organizes live-action lessons such as interactive theatrical lectures, museum lessons with a guide, and interdisciplinary group lessons within Meetings with History program which teaches about the early and late Middle Ages.

What is more, tournaments and theme events also take place in the castle.
