Kozienice Forest
Local name: Puszcza Kozienicka
Located in Kozienice Plain in middle Poland, the vast forest complex is a former hunting place of Polish rulers and the spot where battles took place during World War I. Nowadays, thanks to the creation of numerous tourist trails, it serves as a recreational area. It is rich in fauna and flora.
The place is characterized by the natural landform. It stays as it is since many years. Kozienice Landscape Park consists of 200-years-old forest stands with a dominance of oaks, pines, and firs; animals such as pond turtle, and rare plants: common ivy, great horsetail, interrupted club-moss.The area can be explored on foot or by bike. Many tourists also visits local natural reserves as for example the Royal Spring from which drank King Władysław II Jagiełło. Kozienice Forest attracts tourists with its monumental sacral buildings, churches, war cemeteries, graves, monuments, and palace complexes related to the history of Poland.Most part of Kozienice Forest is protected under Kozienice Landscape Park.Less
