Łódź Fabryczna is the largest railway station in Łódź. In the years 2011-2016, it underwent a thorough modernization, and became not only a communication center, but also another tourist attraction of the city. Above the renewed old facades, a glass roof was situated to create a spacious main hall. The platforms and the entire transport sector were hidden underground. The ground floor was occupied by service units and restaurants.
The Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station, located in the center of Łódź, was built in 1868. At the beginning of the 21st century it was in a deplorable state. At that time, plans were also made to build a new transport center in Łódź. The new Łódź Fabryczna station was opened in 2016. It combines the railway station, bus station, public transportation, and parking lot. Transport infrastructure has been hidden underground. Above it, a hall with a roof of 10,000 glass panels has been built.Under the roof there are renovated facades of the 19th century railway station. People entering the building have the impression of finding theirselves in the pre-war Łódź street. The entire building is an artful fusion of history and modernity. The interior of the station is decorated with murals by Łódź artists Katarzyna Bogucka and Beata Szczecińska.Less
