The Karol Poznański's Palace belongs to the representative factory palaces that have been built in Łódź at the turn of the 19th century. It is built in the neo-Renaissance style and refers to the Florentine palaces. A two-winged building has circular avant-corps covered with a dome. Inside, a fan-shaped staircase with stained-glass windows has been preserved.
The palace was built at the beginning of the 20th century by Izrael Poznański for his son Karol. It was designed by the Warsaw architect Adolf Zeligson. It was the first building in Łódź which had central heating provided for at the planning stage. The palace is comprised of a front part and two side wings. The avant-corps with a dome is placed above the entrance. The facade is embellished with bossage, a decorative frieze, and an attic.A large part of the palace interior has been preserved to this day. Besides the representative staircase, there are panellings from different types of wood, stucco ceiling decorations, mouldings, crystal chandeliers, and marble fireplaces. Since 1945, the palace has been a headquarters of the Academy of Music in Łódź.Less
