The Juliusz Heinzel's Palace is an eclectic building on the representative Piotrkowska street in Łódź. It was designed by Hilary Majewski using elements from various architectural styles. The most visible are references to the Berlin neo-Renaissance. A building with two bay windows and a frieze with the emblems of industry and commerce is topped off an allegorical sculpture that shows Freedom, Industry and Trade.
Juliusz Heinzel was one of the Łódź industrialists. Around 1880, he built his palace in the area adjacent to the wool products factory. His subsequent son-in-law Otto Gehling headed the construction. An eclectic, harmonious, and devoid of unnecessary splendor palace with an advantage of neo-Renaissance features had been built.It is a building in which the decorations show references to the owner's occupation. According to him, allegorical forms of industry and trade point to the best ways of development. Currently, the City Hall is located in the Palace. Since 1998, from the balcony on the first floor, the bugle call of Łódź has been played at noon.Less
