Church of the Most Holy name of Jesus

Local name: Kościół Najświętszego Imienia Jezus

The Neo-Roman sacral facility had been built between the years 1880 and 1884 as a temple of John the Evangelist of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession. In 1945, as part of the action of secular authorities, and the clearance of German traces in Łódź, the facility was repossessed by the Society of Jesus. Nowadays, the church is part of the Łódź Śródmieście deanery, the archdiocese of Łódź.

The parish building of The Holy Name of Jesus in Łódź was founded by the donations of the inhabitants of Łódź and Łódź manufacturers. Large disbursements for construction (100,000 rubles paid in gold) were paid by the manufacturer Karol Scheibler, one of the largest industrialists in Łódź.
