Central Museum of Prisoners of War
Local name: Centralne Muzeum Jeńców Wojennych
The Central Museum of Prisoners of War in Łambinowice is a place of national remembrance. It documents the fate of prisoners of war detained in Lamsdorf camps. The former Wehrmacht headquarters have exhibitions devoted to Polish prisoners of war in the USSR, the history of the Łambinowice camp and German prisoner-of-war camps. There is also a restored camp barrack.
The memorial site consists of several parts. There are Polish and Soviet POW cemeteries. The victims of the labor camp in Łambinowice are buried separately. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to enter the camp, where there is a renovated camp barrack. The area is fenced, there are watch towers and foundations of barracks and warehouses.
Permanent exhibitions are located in the Wehrmacht headquarters. They include documents, photos, souvenirs belonging to prisoners and fragments of their memories. There are also items that prisoners made, often secretly, such as rosaries, chess, Christmas cards, spoons and many more.
