Nowa Huta Museum

Local name: Muzeum Nowej Huty

The Nowa Huta Museum is located in the former building of the Światowid cinema and combines the collections of two previous institutions - the Museum of the Polish People's Republic and the branch of Nowa Huta History. The Światowid cinema building was built according to the design of Andrzej Uniejewski. Today, it perfectly fits into the character of the institution it houses and is a reminder of the architecture of socialist realism.

The museum's collection consists of, among others pictures of Nowa Huta from various periods of its development, showing the architecture, changes and everyday life of its inhabitants. Also included here are the designs of Janusz Ingarden, an outstanding Polish architect who designed the People's Theater building and Nowa Huta housing estates.

The exhibition related to the times of the Polish People's Republic includes, among others: photos, graphics, occasional posters and everyday objects. You can also see examples of industrial design and second cycle publications.
