The Small Market Square in Krakow was built in the 13th century, during the Great Location it was an auxiliary marketplace for the Main Market Square. Initially, an old junk was sold on it, and later also meat. Nowadays, you can admire historic buildings here, including the Fritsch tenement and the church of St. Barbara.
Today's name was adopted in the nineteenth century. Previously, this place was called, among others, Tack, Vendetta and Butcher Street. Goods which were traded were displayed on large, wooden tables. Products were sold here, which were not to be traded on the Main Market Square, for example raw fish. The market was renovated in 2007. Until then, there was a parking lot. Today, concerts, festivals and galas take place there. During regular events, visitors to Krakow can listen to music and try traditional dishes.Less
