Rynek Underground

The unique on a European scale museum is located under the Cracow's Main Square. It gives an opportunity to learn about the turbulent history of medieval Cracow. The exposition "On the trail of Cracow's European identity" presents the rich history of Cracow, the relations of Cracow with other countries and the Hanseatic League, and even the times before the foundation of the city.

The museum is modern and multimedia. The tour is enriched with sounds of medieval market hubbub, models, touching screens, holograms and movie screenings. Attractions for kids are a playroom and the mechanical show "The legend of old Cracow". The market's underground is also fully adapted for disabled people.

The foundation of the museum was possible thanks to the archaeological research which was undertaken in the eastern part of the Main Square from 2005 to 2010.
