Jordan Park in Kraków was established in 1889. Its initiator was Polish doctor and professor of the Jagiellonian University Henryk Jordan. The park is a great place for an entire family. It consists of volleyball and basketball courts, football field, skate park, gym equipment, and modern playgrounds. Children can ride paddle boat in summer and go sledding in winter.
The park covers an area of over 21 ha. Apart from the recreational zone, it consists of alleys with 54 busts of prominent Polish people such as Fryderyk Chopin, Juliusz Słowacki, Jan Matejko, or Adam Mickiewicz. The bust of Henryk Jordan can be found on the round square.The two-meter monument of bear Wojtek was unveiled in the park on the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino. This Syrian brown bear served in the Polish II Corps ranked as a corporal. The author of the monument is Wojciech Batka.Less
