Historical Museum of the City of Krakow

The main department of the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow is occupied by the Krzysztofory Palace located on the main square. It consists of the exhibition "History and Culture of Kraków". It presents the history of Kraków's craft guilds, municipal government, and unique traditions.

The museum operates here since 1964. It was known before as the Archives of Old Files of Kraków. Today, the facility is dedicated to the history of city institutions, and also the traditions and culture of Kraków.

The exhibition in the Krzysztofory Palace is dedicated to the history and culture of Kraków. It collects weapons, pieces of art, photographs, and documents related to the history of the city. The collection is complemented by souvenirs and everyday objects from Kraków's houses. It also includes local traditions such as Kraków's nativity scenes, the Lajkonik, or the history of Civilian Archers' Fraternity.
