The defensive walls in Kożuchowo have survived until the present times, allowing them to know their layout and the size of the surrounding town. Despite the systematic demolition, it is still the best preserved medieval fortifications in Poland. Walls can be seen strolling along the alley along the old moat.

The period between the 13th and 14th centuries is considered to be the time of the founding of the city walls in Kożuchów. They consisted of two belts - a defensive one with a dozen or so bastions and an outer bastion fortification. Probably the height of the walls was then 8 m, and their thickness was from about 1.5 to about 2.0 m. From the eight three-storey towers until now, seven remains, 48.5 to 58, A slightly worse preserved external basteway belt was a maximum of 2.5 m high and its thickness reached 1.2 m. Both stripes of walls were built with regular stones.

The city has four city gates: Głogowska, Krosno, Żagańska and Szprotawska, which have survived to this day fragments of one. Old fortifications have survived also partly wet moat. The highest part of the walls can be seen in the back of the church. Cleansing of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
