Town Hall in Konin

Local name: Ratusz w Koninie

The monumental Town Hall in Konin comes from the turn of the 19th century. It's a classicist building on trapeze plan. Its tower consists of the clock brought from the Cistercian Abbey in Ląd. It operates as a headquarters of municipal authorities.

The Town Hall was built after the great fire of the city which occurred at the end of the 18th century. It was decided then that a new headquarters of municipal authorities won't be located in the square's center but a little farther, in a place which today is known as Small Square.

The Town Hall is a small, one-story building in a shape of trapeze. Its facade consists of the triangular tympanum supported by four pillars. The tympanum's surface is decorated with the city's coat of arms. The boardroom preserved the stucco plafond and 19th-century stained glasses in some windows.
