Church of St. Andrew

Church of Sts. Andrzej in Konin is built on the central plan of the gothic shrine, which is rare. Around the octagonal nave there is a rectangular chancel, a porch and two chapels. Nawa is supported by one pole, which spreads out the beautiful palm vault. An interesting monument is an octagonal, renaissance baptismal font.

The church was erected in the first half of the fifteenth century. It was founded by the Poznan bishop Andrzej Laskarz and his nephew John from Lichen. The temple was severed several times by fires. As a result of reconstruction after one of them received in the nineteenth century Neo-Gothic interior design and facade peaks and turrets.

It is a building with a unique, supported on one central nave pole. It covers the palm vault. In the chancel it passes in a starry staircase based on pillars topped with coat of arms of Wielkopolska knight families. In the porch of the church preserved original Gothic keystone vault with the head of Christ. The interior is neo-gothic, except for the renaissance, octagonal font.
