Swamp Redoubt

Local name: Reduta Bagienna

The Marsh Redoubt, otherwise known as Morast, lies in the fork of the Parsęta and the Drzewny canal. During the functioning of the Kołobrzeg Fortress, it was part of the fortifications serving the defense of the estuary of the river and port. The Redoubt was placed on the northern outpost of the island, which is formed by a canal formerly called Więceminka. Today the Marsh Redoubt invites visitors to the tavern organized at the yacht port.

The stronghold has the shape of a regular pentagon. It consists of an earth embankment reinforced with a solid brick wall. Once the Redoubt was surrounded by the moat, but now its southern part is covered up. That's where you can get to the Redoubt area. Formerly, a drawbridge was passed over the moat. At present, from the east and west, the monument adheres to the marina for tourist yachts, which is surrounded by a breakwater.

The buildings were built on solid stone foundations, and the walls were made of brick as in all of Kołobrzeg's strongholds. There are many holes in the walls with characteristic slanting inlets, which gave a larger field of fire to the soldiers defending the fortification. In addition to the shooting positions for light weapons, there are two places for heavy artillery.
