In an elegant, seventeenth-century building, there is now a cozy restaurant specializing in traditional Polish cuisine. The name "Kata House" was adopted only in the 1950s - although historical messages contradict the true function of this building. It is certain that the building was included in the register of monuments in 1953 - as one of the first in the whole of Kołobrzeg.
According to some reports, there used to be a court here, along with a hearing room, the so-called "Torture Chamber". However, they are probably only legends. In the 18th century, the house belonged to the Ramler merchant families, and later to the Goelbergs. The latter, when the affair of the lady of the house with a Prussian officer came to light, sold the building and moved to Szczecin. The building was significantly damaged during World War II. Only the walls have survived. Fortunately, at the end of the 1950s, the restoration of the Kata House began. The interior has retained its old atmosphere and original decorations.Less
