Cistercian Abbey

Local name: Opactwo Cystersów

Kołbacz is home to the Cistercian abbey complex. The former church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and now the Sacred Heart of Jesus is the central point of the complex. The historic residential area is the House of Conversations and Abbot's House. In the House of Conversations a house of culture was established, while in the House of Opat the library.

The Abbey is one of the most valuable Gothic monuments in the West Pomeranian Province. The temple was built in 1210 in Romanesque style and was completed in 1347 in gothic style. Thus, the monuments of different epochs have survived. From the Romanesque period the choir and transept span, from the early Gothic part of the naval corps, and from the late Gothic chapel apse.

The House of Conversations, or secular friars, is a brick brick building. It was founded in the years 1300-1340. The Abbey House is also a brick building that was erected in 1350. These are examples of brick gothic. In addition, the Abbot's House has baroque elements from the time of reconstruction of the eastern wall.
