Kamień Land History Museum

Local name: Muzeum Historii Ziemi Kamieńskiej

The museum rooms are located in the rooms of the chapterhouse of the Kamien co-cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Precious sacred and archaeological items were presented in them. Visitors can admire monuments from the cathedral treasury, exhibits dated to the nineteenth century, which were accidentally found, and exhibits discovered during excavations carried out in the city.

Objects excavated during excavations were divided into their period of origin. Among the objects from the Neolithic period you can find, among others, stone and ceramic tools. Monuments dating to the medieval times are mainly armor, boat fragments, and brick and brick fittings. Beautiful stove tiles come from the Renaissance. The museum collections have been additionally enriched with souvenirs from pre-war Pomeranian Stone as well as fossils and fauna collections.

The facility was founded in 2006 on the initiative of the historian Henryk Masłowski, archaeologist Grzegorz Kurka and the Society of Lovers of Kamień. The place where the museum is located was lent by the priest of the parish of St. Otto. The main purpose of the object is to collect and protect monuments.
