The steel drawbridge in Dziwnów is one of the few attractions of this type in Europe. It connects the mainland with the island of Wolin and is located on the Strange Strait. Its electric mechanism, which works on the principle of counterweight, allows to lift the asphalt structure and steel weighing 35 tons in just a few minutes. In summer, the bridge opens at even hours, while on other days as needed. Opening the span allows vessels to sail across the Strange Strait.
An equally interesting attraction is the Dziwna river itself, which received its name from an unusual behavior. When the north wind begins to blow, the current changes its course and instead of entering the sea, it goes back and the sea flows into the strait. This is because the northern winds blowing raise the sea level. Thanks to this amazing phenomenon, it happens that fishermen catch fish that are typically marine species that have flowed inland with the current.
