Granary

Local name: Spichlerz

The Granary in Janowiec is a wooden building which was moved here from Podlodów. Its interior consists of the ethnographic exhibition "Between banks of the Vistula" showing the life and work of people living at riverbanks of the queen of Polish rivers. There are also collections of folk sculptures, and items made by local craftsmen. The granary is administered by the Vistula Museum in Kazimierz Dolny.

The granary was moved to Janowce from Podholów near the Wieprz in the 1980s. Its architecture is different from that by the Vistula. It is a simple, one-story building covered with a gabled roof with wood shingles.

Because of the location, the life of the local people was related to water. The exhibition contains the equipment of fish farm, items, and tools used by raftmen and their clothes. It is complemented by handicrafts, sculptures, and folk paintings.
