Fr. Stanisław Staszic Museum

Museum them. Ks. S. Staszica is located in Hrubieszów in the manor house of Du Chateau. It deals with the collection of historical and cultural relics of Hrubieszow. His collections are divided into four exhibitions, historical-numismatic, ethnographic, artistic and archaeological. On the latter you can see valuable finds from the excavations in Masłomęcz or Gródek.

The museum has been operating since 1965. It mainly deals with documenting the history of the nearby Hrubieszów area. It boasts a very interesting archaeological exhibition, which consists of items found in gothic cemeteries in several nearby towns. These discoveries were among the most important in Poland in the last decades of the twentieth century. Thanks to them, one of the most important archeological exhibitions of the world, Troy, was brought to Hrubieszow at the beginning of the 21st century. It was presented at the. S. Staszica for several months.

The remaining exhibitions of the Hrubieszow museum concern the history of the city and the material culture of the region. You can see folk art collections as well as everyday items and costumes used by the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. The collection of paintings is mainly connected with Paweł Gajewski. There are also a dozen paintings related to the region in the second half of the 20th century.
