Regional Museum

Local name: Muzeum Regionalne

The Regional Museum in Głogówek occupies three buildings in the city: the castle, the watchtower and the castle gate. There are reconstructed prison buildings and an ethnographic exhibit in the basement, while John Cybis and Rafal Urban's chamber are in the castle gate. The castle is currently under renovation and the exhibitions will be re-arranged after its completion.

Regional Museum was established in 1977. Due to the care of three completely different objects, various exhibitions were organized here. The most important were the Oppersdorff castle. It concerned the history of the city and its residence in Louis van Beethoven in 1806. In honor of the great composer, the Museum organizes the Festival of his name every year. The chalets will be available again after the renovation.

There are two expositions in the Tower. The first relates to the history of the prison in Głogówek. In addition to the purpose, you can also see a room of torture. The second is devoted to local material culture. There were collections of clothes, everyday items and home furnishings from Głogówek and its surroundings. By 1993, the Jan Cybis Museum was operating at the gate. Today his harvest is largely transferred to Opole. There is only a memory room with a few Cybis works. The second character that is depicted here is a Silesian writer and storyteller, Rafał Urban.
