Steamboat "Sołdek" is a first Polish ship built after the end of World War II. It operates as a floating museum since the 1980s. Before, it was used for carrying coal and ore. Visit on the ship gives an opportunity to learn its construction and the entire monumental mechanism.
Museum ship "Sołdek" belongs to the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. It is almost 90 m long while its width amounts to over 12 m. Its deadweight tonnage is over 2600 t. In times of its glory, the ship carried 3 millions tons of cargo in total. The bulwark deck consists of four hatch covers, bow anchor, and transportation devices.Especially popular is the boat deck with the safety equipment and the helmsman emergency room. One of the holds consists of the exhibition dedicated to the history of "Sołdek". Temporary exhibitions are also organized here.Less
