The Maritime Culture Centre is one of the branches of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. It teaches about sea shipping and everything related to it. The museum consists of remote-controlled ship models, miniatures of ships, and even real boats from different corners of the world.
The Maritime Culture Centre presents two permanent exhibitions. The first one was prepared specifically for children and adolescents. "People-Ships-Ports", is how it's called, is an interactive exhibition discussing, respectively, specifics of sea environment, commanding a ship and its construction, work at a port and lighthouses on the Polish coast, everyday life of captains and sailors, and underwater archaeology. The second exhibition, "Boats of People of the World", presents boats from Norway, Ireland, Italia, Samoa, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Vietnam, Panama, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. It contains various types of boats: boats with leather or bark sheaths, rafts, basket boats, plank boats, dugout canoes, floater boats, and stabilized boats.Less
