Museum of the Jews of Czestochowa
Local name: Muzeum Żydów Częstochowian
It is a museum presenting the fate of the Czestochowa Jews. The exhibits consist primarily of souvenirs handed over or sent from Israel, the United States, Canada and Western Europe by families of Czestochowa Jews of Jewish origin. Among the exhibits are mainly photographs, but also dating back to the nineteenth century documents, posters and posters from the interwar period and the Nazi occupation.
The exhibition is located in several halls on the ground floor of a historic building. The museum opened in 2004. Entering the first hall, visitors move into old times, into a city that is no longer there. From the photo on the wall is a small Jewish girl dressed in a scarf. In the next room the religious theme of the Jews is the theme. A model of a new synagogue, memories of an old one, which today no longer has a trace, a photo of the Częstochowa rabbi - are only some elements of the exhibition equipment.
The next room talks about the worst moments of the community: the black walls, photos and maps of the ghetto and the timetable of the train, which took Czestochowa Jews to Treblinka.
