Located in the center of the city, the Town Hall is the most representative building of Częstochowa Museum. It consists of the permanent historical exhibition "History of Częstochowa" and the series of expositions "Cabinet of Prominent Częstochowa People". The object organizes museum lessons for students on the subject of the city's history in the context of, among others, knighthood families and the Bar Confederation.
The most interesting exhibits are the fragment of a femur, tibial bone and shoulder bone of a mammoth, the skull, and bones of a cave bear, and also wares from the Paleolithic and Mesolithic, and axes and hatchets from the Neolithic. There are also important documents related to the city dating back to the 13th century and the monastery in Jasna Góra, and also maps showing how the city's borders have been changing over the years. Worthy of attention are also city seals, militaria, paintings, and plans related to the besiege of Jasna Góra by the Sweden army in the 16th century.The building of the Town Hall was built in classicist style between 1828 and 1836. It was entered in the register of objects of cultural heritage. In the beginning, there were offices and apartments of officials. It's the headquarters of Częsctochowa Museum since 1967.Less
