Archaeological Reserve of the Lusatian Culture
Local name: Rezerwat Archeologiczny Kultury Łużyckiej
It is the only archaeological site in Lusatian culture preserved at the site of its discovery. It forms part of the Czestochowa Museum. Tourists can see here the graveyard, which contains over 80 graves dating back to the early Iron Age (750-550 BC).
Visitors can see here not only skeletons of buried people, but also objects characteristic of a given epoch. Among them are pots, decorations, tools and weapons. The most interesting exhibits are toys (three bird-shaped rattles) and jewelry (two bracelets) 2,500 years ago.
The first graves were discovered in 1955, during earthworks, related to the construction of the viaduct. Over the next few years several tombs were discovered, which led to the decision to create an Archaeological Reserve. The property was solemnly opened in 1965. In 2001, during the reconstruction of the pavilion, another 5 graves were found.
