Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
Local name: Kościół Podwyższenia Krzyża Świętego
In Czarna Górna, in the wooden Greek Catholic church Dymitr the Great Martyr since 1951 houses the Roman Catholic parish church Exaltation of the Holy Cross. A characteristic feature of the temple is the six-column portico preceding the entrance. Inside, you can admire, among others the original iconostasis and beautiful sculptures have survived, e.g. of the crucified Christ and the Mother of God.
The triple temple was built in 1834. In the aftermath of the tragic events of World War II, Black indigenous people were displaced deep into Ukraine. They were replaced by exiles from Sokalszczyzna, and thanks to them the building of the abandoned church survived.
Next to the temple there is a wooden belfry and two cemeteries: a church and a burial one. A monument commemorating the victims of Nazism and Stalinism in Sokalszczyzna stands at the church cemetery.
