Phillumeny Museum
Local name: Muzeum Filumenistyczne
The museum collection presented in the building of the former Evangelical church thematically refers to fire, matches and lighters. You can see three permanent exhibitions here: the story of the fire, labels and packaging from around the world, and the world of lighters.
Since 2011, 70 satirical works by Andrzej Mleczko have been exhibited in the facility. This is a big treat for lovers of this famous caricature author. The museum also has a regional department dedicated to the history of the city and the surrounding area.
The facility was founded in 1964 and is the only museum collection of this type in Poland. Among the exhibits there is a very rich collection of fuse, gasoline, gas, electric, chemical lighters, as well as metal and rock flints and ancient olive lamps. The presentation is complemented by a valuable collection of match labels from around the world, among which the oldest are from the 19th century. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions.
