Situated on the river, the historic complex consists of two interconnected buildings - the junior and larger, enriched by the corner tower and the lower one, from Old Port.
The red brick design distinguishes the German Gothic style typical of the late nineteenth century. The complex has been a seat of the Bydgoszcz Post Office for more than two hundred years, and you can only visit the service room. At the present location the post office has been residing since 1815, but its history dates back to earlier times. Initially, the post office was located in a tenement house in the vicinity of the Market Square, and later it was transferred to the former military barracks and royal stables, which systematically expanded to form the existing complex over Brda. The period of prosperity was experienced by director Gottfried Groschke, who during his tenure in 1815-1847 led to double the number of staff, managing a group of 145 postmen with over 400 horses.
