Bobolice Castle

Local name: Zamek w Bobolicach

It is one of the most beautiful castles located on the Eagles' Nests Trail. At the end of the 20th century, the Lasecki family - current castle owners - took up the challenge of rebuilding the monument. With the help of Polish scientists and experts, archaeological, security and construction works were carried out. Today it houses a hotel, but the castle can be visited from the outside.

The stronghold was built in the fourteenth century at the behest of Casimir the Great. The castle was part of the defense system of the western state border of the Kingdom of Poland. He was to defend her from invasions from Silesia, which is the border territory of the Kingdom of Bohemia.

The castle in Bobolice is located at an altitude of 360 m above sea level. It was originally built of white limestone, which was also used for its reconstruction.

This place is associated with the legend of two quarrels brothers. The ghost of the woman who was the reason for their quarrels is supposed to frighten the castle walls to this day. There is probably some truth in the legend. In the nineteenth century, a huge treasure was found in the basement of the stronghold. There is a presumption that part of it may be located in the tunnel described in the legend, between Bobolice and Mirów.
