House with the Turret Museum

Local name: Muzeum Dom z Basztą

The Museum of the Biecz Land is a local institution located in the monumental objects in Biecz. The main headquarters is the House with the Turret, a monumental townsman tenement house where the first drugstore in the area was established. It presents the exhibition dedicated to the history of pharmacy.

The House with the Turret is a Renaissance tenement house built in 1523. In the past, it was known as the House of the Barian-Rokicki Family. The adjoined Turret, today's decoration of Biecz, served defensive purposes. In 1557, the first drugstore in Subcarpahtia was opened here by Marcin Rokicki. The exhibition "History of pharmacy and drugstores in south-east Poland" presented here relates to this breakthrough moment.

Apart from this exposition, the House with the Turret also displays items related to the townsman culture, and also works of artistic craftsmanship.
