Nobels Fredssenter, i.e. the Center for the Nobel Peace Prize, was opened in 2005 by King Harald V. It is an institution whose main goal is to disseminate knowledge about all prize winners and its founder Alfred Nobel. It also educates on current conflicts around the world and efforts to bring peace.
Exhibitions, workshops and lectures are organized here. The offer is addressed to both adults and children. The patronage of the Center is held by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The institution's activities are financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture.
The Nobel Peace Center is located in the former building of the Oslo Vestbanestasjon train station from the 19th century, near the City Hall. The British architect David Adjaye is responsible for the modern interior design.
