Jewish Museum in Oslo founded in 2003. The institution's goal was to collect, store, search and share knowledge about Jewish immigration, integration in the Norwegian community, culture and tradition. The museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as themed events.
Although the museum's origins date back to 2003, it was only in 2008 that it was officially opened by Haakon Magnus, Crown Prince of Norway. The location at Calmeyers gate 15 is not accidental - it is here that the majority of Jews arriving from the Baltic countries settled in the past. There is also an old synagogue in the area, which is overseen by the Jewish Museum, built in 1920.
In 2014, the institution was nominated for the Museum of the Year award by the Museum Association.
