Bodø is a large port and city that has earned itself the nickname of the Lofoten Gate. It is from here that ferries depart for these most famous Norwegian islands, famous for their spectacular views. But it is also attractive to tourists due to the picturesque surroundings and numerous opportunities for active leisure.

The buildings in Bodø are mostly contemporary and the city is constantly growing. Its authorities have set themselves the goal of creating the first Smart City in Europe in which residents are involved in decisions at every stage. The successive stages of this plan, implemented gradually, make Bodø one of the top-rated cities in Norway in terms of living conditions and satisfaction of the inhabitants.

A tourist coming to the city has many opportunities to spend time. Bodø's biggest attraction is the Norwegian Aviation Museum, where you can, among others, fly a plane in a special simulator. In turn, you can learn about the history, culture and nature of the region at the Nordland Museum.

However, when we get outside the strict center, magnificent views attack from everywhere. There are many hiking paths in the area from which you can walk to viewpoints such as Hunstadtoppen Peak, Keiservarden and Finnkonnakken.

The location by the fjord also makes Bodø a great place for water-related activities. There is a thriving sea kayaking center on the nearby island of Kjerringøy. In turn, you can sail on the fjord with fast boats. There are water safaris and excursions to the world's largest tide, Saltstraumen, which creates a huge vortex over 12 meters in diameter.
