Louis Couperus Museum
Local name: Louis Couperus Museum
A biographical museum dedicated to the life and work of a Dutch writer at the turn of the century. It is located in the area where the writer was born and raised, in the former gallery of his biographer Albert Vogel.
The museum shows souvenirs of the writer, including his desk, writing implements, personal souvenirs, as well as manuscripts of works, letters and documents. The former gallery was furnished as Couperus' apartment could look like during the Belle Epoque period, when his most important period falls.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum organizes twice a year temporary exhibitions related to the writer's work and his presence in culture. Museum staff also lead tours of The Hague, in the footsteps of Couperus.
