The Gothic building was built in the 13th century. It houses a monumental knight's hall 25 m long and 9 m wide. The building is part of the complex of Dutch parliament buildings. Every year, every third Thursday of September, the chamber holds a meeting of both houses of parliament, during which the monarch gives a solemn speech.
