Fort Abcoude

Local name: Fort bij Abcoude

The historic fort was built between the Angstel River and the Amsterdam-Utrecht railway line in 1883. It has remained almost intact until modern times. It can be visited only in the summer season. Along with the entire system of fortifications located around Amsterdam, it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
