The Old Town of Budva, located on a promontory deep into the Adriatic, is an attraction of the region that attracts many tourists. The old town is surrounded by defensive walls. Its most important monuments include: the medieval Citadel, which hosts performances of the International Theater Festival, the cathedral of St. John, with the image of Our Lady of Budva, church of St. Church of the Holy Trinity Sawy and the Church of St. Mary in Punta with the wonderful image of Madonna de Punta.
Budva is the center of the crowded Budva Riviera. In addition to the historic old town, the city also attracts with numerous cultural events. It is worth going to the Mediterranean Song Festival, promoting young artists performing Balkan music, as well as to the already mentioned International Theater Festival.
Budva is one of the oldest Adriatic cities - its origins date back to the fifth century BC. According to legend, the settlement was founded here by a banished mythological Phoenician hero named Kadmos. The Archeological and Ethnographic Museum located in the former monastery church tells the story of the city.
